This
site contains information, images, song lyrics and several curiosities
about Giuseppe Festa's music and the band Lingalad and, in particular, about the CD
"Voices from Middle-earth" (Voci dalla Terra di Mezzo), inspired
by moments of his life and by the Tolkien's book "The Lord of
the Rings". A list of concert dates is available for Giuseppe
and the wayfarer musicians that play with him, and a selection
of his songs can be downloaded.

hope that my songs will accompany you on your own magical journey
to walk more lightly on this Earth".

In 1999, Giuseppe Festa produced a CD titled "Voices from
Middle-earth" which contains music he wrote and played, inspired by
moments of his life and by the book "The Lord of the Rings" written by
the English author Tolkien.
Today,
togheter with the band Lingalad, he performs these songs in a
concert on a tour round Italy and abroad.
The
atmosphere is magical: the lights fade and, by the light of Finnish
lanterns, the musicians take the audience to a world made of Elves and
other mysterious creatures, travelling through wild lands with a still
intact nature. They sing about a time now lost hoping to give new life
to it, at least partially, thanks to the tales, the guitars and the
melodies of a flute.
We
are also able to perform our songs in English.

A LETTER FROM
PRISCILLA TOLKIEN
In
July 2001 a letter arrived to Giuseppe Festa from England. The sender
was Mrs Priscilla Tolkien, J.R.R. Tolkien's daughter:
"Dear Mr. Festa,
I'm very glad that you have enjoyed my father's work so much, especially
"The Lord of the Rings" and that it has been a such important influence
in your life and work.
I have listened to your music and singing inspired by the Middle-earth
and I particularly enjoyed those concerned with the Hobbits.
I think that the song "Filastrocca Hobbit" is charming and very well
done. I also liked the sadness expressed in "The Road Goes Ever On".
Similarly in "Accanto al fuoco": I think the mood was well judged with
its air of sad reflection.
I also greatly appreciated the excellent enunciation of the words throughout.
I wish you well in your musical life and in your work and thank you
again for sending me your songs."
